Carding and Handstripping For Pets: Theory & Techniques

Handstripping and carding techniques are well known in the show ring. They are techniques that are done on certain show dogs as per the breed standard. There are many benefits to these techniques, one of which promotes healthy skin and coat. Jodi will show you how to modify these techniques for your pet trims.

The West Highland White Terrier (Carding & Thinning Shears)

Jodi will demonstrate a manageable pet trim on the Westie and help you understand how to properly set the pattern on this breed. With the use of carding techniques as well as thinning shears this dog will "look like" it has handstripped for the show ring. Learn how to capture this breeds adorable expression in this session.

Inside Out: How Good Nutrition Improves Skin and Coat

How do the foods and treats we feed our pets affect their skin and coat? This presentation discusses the importance of a healthy diet in enhancing the health and appearance of our pets.

American Cocker Trims

Jodi will demonstrate two trims that are very flattering to the American Cocker Spaniel and easy to maintain. The short and sassy Suburban Trim and the Field Trim. Finding the right trim and the right length for your clients will eliminate a lot of wasted time dematting this breed. Jodi will share with you "her winning ways" on capturing this breeds expression.

In and Out With Style (Shih Tzu)  

Being a mobile groomer, Jodi has learned all the tricks to get her dogs done quickly without losing the quality of her work. Topics discussed in this power point presentation will not only help you become an efficient groomer but will show you how to put manageable trims on your dogs. Jodi will demonstrate one of her most favorite trims on a Shih Tzu.

The Golden Retriever is one of the most popular family pets in the United States. Jodi will discuss the shedding process and share with your her de-shedding techniques. She will groom this breed with the use of various thinning shears for a natural appearance. These techniques bring your skills to the next level.

Three Cheers For Poodles (Three Trims on Three Poodles)

Poodles! Poodles! Poodles! Who doesn't love a poodle?! Jodi will demonstrate three trims on three dogs that will help you bring variety into your poodle trims. Jodi will show you how to get your clipper work done in a timely manner!

Jodi Murphy, NCMG, MPS owns and operates the Puppy Spa Mobile Grooming Salon in New Jersey. Jodi was a past team member of Groom Team USA for four years, consistently ranking within the top four groomers in the United States. She has been a multiple Best In Show as well as Best All Around Competitor and was awarded Best American Groomer in 2005 and 2006 at Intergroom. Jodi captured the World Championship title in the prestigious Oster Invitational Tournament of Champions in 2006. In the International contest ring, she won both gold and bronze medals in Barcelona, Spain in 2003 and also captured another gold medal in 2007 in Milan, Italy. After achieving all her goals in the contest ring she is now here to share her years of knowledge and experience. She has produced the most complete Instructional DVD Series for all levels of grooming used in grooming schools throughout the United States and Canada. Jodi is also the designer for her own grooming apparel line which is manufactured in New York City.
